Dr. Damiano Crivelli is an English-speaking psychologist in Milan. He is a Clinical Psychologist, and he receives patients in person in Milan and works online with people living elsewhere in Italy and abroad, in Italian and English, with people from 16 years old onwards.
He graduated with honours in Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology from the University of Milano-Bicocca in 2018, obtained a second-level Master’s degree in Clinical Neuroscience from the Catholic University of Milan in 2019, and completed a PhD in Psychology in 2023 at the Cognitive Neuropsychology Center of ASST Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda and the University of Pavia.
In 2022 Damiano Crivelli spent a year at University College London (UCL), leading a research project on bodily awareness. He is the author of scientific publications in international journals including Cortex, Proceedings of the Royal Society and Neuropsychologia.
His clinical experience spans two worlds that are usually kept apart. He has worked with people living with psychopathological conditions, at the Psychology unit of San Gerardo Hospital in Monza, in the outpatient clinic for the diagnosis and treatment of anxious and depressive symptoms; and with people living with organic and neurological conditions, at the Cognitive Neuropsychology Center of Niguarda Hospital in Milan. It is the reason neuropsychology is not an abstract specialism for him.
He is currently continuing his training at the NOUS Psychotherapy School in Milan, which integrates the cognitive-constructivist approach with mindfulness practices and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In his clinical work he emphasises one idea in particular: for psychological support to be effective it has to be personalised and tailor-made to the person in front of him, never applied off the shelf.
Fewer than 1 in 100 therapists joins the Therapsy team. Dr. Crivelli was personally vetted by our Clinical Director, Dr. Francesca A. Boccalari, on three non-negotiable criteria: he shares our values, he speaks at least one language beyond Italian, and he has a physical practice in Milan where you can meet in person, not only online.
Damiano Crivelli does not work alone. He takes part in Therapsy’s internal clinical supervision, a standing group where therapists bring their most demanding cases, train together and ask for help when a situation calls for it. Every therapist in the network, Case Managers included, can turn to our Clinical Director for clinical questions and further training, and Therapsy runs regular professional training with senior therapists and external trainers. Scheduling, invoicing, payments and the rest of the paperwork are handled by Therapsy, so that his time with you stays clinical work and nothing else. On your side, the same platform gives you one place to see your sessions, invoices, payments and documents.
At Therapsy you do not have to pick your therapist from a list: you start by speaking with Dr. Francesca Boccalari, our Clinical Director, who listens to what you are going through and matches you with the therapist she believes is right for you: Damiano Crivelli, or one of his colleagues. Then you have a free introductory call with that therapist, and only after that do you decide whether to start.
And if the fit turns out not to be right, you are not back at square one. Dr. Boccalari and her team find you another therapist inside Therapsy, at no cost, without you having to tell your story from the beginning. Choosing a therapist while you are struggling, in a language that is not your own, is a lot to ask of a person. That is the part we take on.
Dr. Damiano Crivelli is registered with the Italian Order of Psychologists and works as part of the Therapsy network of licensed multilingual therapists.
Yes. He spent a research year at University College London and publishes his scientific work in English, so it is a language he thinks in professionally rather than one he switches into. A course of therapy can run entirely in English, and he also works in Italian.
In person in Milan, across three practices in different parts of the city, and online for people living elsewhere in Italy or abroad. Having more than one location in Milan usually means a shorter wait for an appointment that fits your week.

Yes, it is his specialism. His doctoral work was carried out in a hospital neuropsychology centre and at the University of Pavia, alongside a Master\u2019s in clinical neuroscience. In practice this matters when a difficulty is not purely emotional: memory, attention or bodily awareness can be assessed properly rather than guessed at, and the therapy is built on what the assessment actually shows.
Yes. He led a research project on bodily awareness during a year at University College London, and his work has appeared in international peer-reviewed journals. The relevant part for a client is not the list of publications but the habit behind it: he reads the evidence in his field first-hand rather than at second remove.
Through the form on this page. Dr. Francesca Boccalari, our Clinical Director, reads what you have written and decides who is the right person for it, which may be Dr. Crivelli or a colleague with a closer fit. You then meet that therapist on a free introductory call before committing to anything. If it turns out not to be the right fit, we find you someone else inside Therapsy, at no cost.
