Dr. Benedetta Cereda is an English-speaking psychologist in Milan. She is a Clinical Psychologist, and she receives patients in person in Milan and works online with people living elsewhere in Italy and abroad, in Italian and English, with people from 16 years old onwards and with couples.
Benedetta Cereda is a Milan native. She earned her degree with top honours from the Catholic University of Milan, and during her university years she had the opportunity to study neuroscience in the Netherlands. She is presently focusing on specialised psychotherapy using an integrated approach.
Her practice is based at Milan’s San Raffaele Hospital, where she works primarily with children and adolescents. Her expertise lies in addressing learning disabilities and ADHD, and extends to neuropsychology and ADHD tutoring. Through Therapsy she sees people from 16 years old onwards, and couples.
Her true passion lies in helping patients achieve a sense of well-being: in the face of stress, of anxiety stemming from life changes, or during moments when individuals seek deeper self-understanding. Her therapeutic approach is constructivist cognitive, which means the work stays close to the meaning each person gives to their own experience, rather than to a standard reading of it.
She is also part of a clinical group followed by a Case Manager, with check-ins on new cases and monthly group supervisions. It means the person you meet is not working alone: her clinical decisions are discussed inside a team.
Fewer than 1 in 100 therapists joins the Therapsy team. Dr. Cereda was personally vetted by our Clinical Director, Dr. Francesca A. Boccalari, on three non-negotiable criteria: she shares our values, she speaks at least one language beyond Italian, and she has a physical practice in Milan where you can meet in person, not only online.
Benedetta Cereda does not work alone. She takes part in Therapsy’s internal clinical supervision, a standing group where therapists bring their most demanding cases, train together and ask for help when a situation calls for it. Every therapist in the network, Case Managers included, can turn to our Clinical Director for clinical questions and further training, and Therapsy runs regular professional training with senior therapists and external trainers. Scheduling, invoicing, payments and the rest of the paperwork are handled by Therapsy, so that her time with you stays clinical work and nothing else. On your side, the same platform gives you one place to see your sessions, invoices, payments and documents.
At Therapsy you do not have to pick your therapist from a list: you start by speaking with Dr. Francesca Boccalari, our Clinical Director, who listens to what you are going through and matches you with the therapist she believes is right for you: Benedetta Cereda, or one of her colleagues. Then you have a free introductory call with that therapist, and only after that do you decide whether to start.
And if the fit turns out not to be right, you are not back at square one. Dr. Boccalari and her team find you another therapist inside Therapsy, at no cost, without you having to tell your story from the beginning. Choosing a therapist while you are struggling, in a language that is not your own, is a lot to ask of a person. That is the part we take on.
Dr. Benedetta Cereda is registered with the Italian Order of Psychologists and works as part of the Therapsy network of licensed multilingual therapists.
Yes. Part of her academic training was done abroad, in the Netherlands, so English is a language she has studied and worked in rather than one she translates into. A course of therapy can run entirely in English, and she also works in Italian.
In person in Milan and online everywhere else, so people living in another Italian city or outside Italy can work with her by video. Alongside her private practice she holds a clinical post at San Raffaele Hospital.
Her approach is constructivist cognitive, and she is currently specialising in psychotherapy with an integrated approach. In practice the work stays close to the meaning each person gives to their own experience, rather than to a standard reading of it.
Yes, and it is her core clinical ground. In her hospital work she assesses and follows children and adolescents with ADHD and specific learning disabilities, which includes neuropsychological testing and study-method tutoring. Through Therapsy she brings that same expertise to older adolescents and adults, where an undiagnosed learning difficulty often shows up as years of feeling slow rather than as a diagnosis.
Yes, with couples and with individuals from 16 years old onwards, in Italian and in English. Working with adolescents and adults in the same practice is useful in couple work, where what one partner brings is often much older than the relationship.
Through the form on this page. Dr. Francesca Boccalari, our Clinical Director, reads what you have written and decides who is the right person for it, which may be Dr. Cereda or a colleague with a closer fit. You then meet that therapist on a free introductory call before committing to anything. If it turns out not to be the right fit, we find you someone else inside Therapsy, at no cost.
