Dr. Cecilia Iacono

Cecilia Iacono Therapsy

For burnout, career change and the strain of adapting to a new country. In English and Italian.

Dr. Cecilia Iacono is an English-speaking psychologist and Gestalt counsellor in Turin and Alba. She receives patients in person in Turin and in Alba and works online with people living elsewhere in Italy and abroad, in English and Italian, with adults, couples and families from 16 years old onwards.

Her training is international from beginning to end. She took her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at IE University in Spain and a Master’s in Work and Organizational Psychology at the Vrije Universiteit in the Netherlands, and deepened her training in mindfulness and yoga therapy at the Yoga Therapy Institute, also in the Netherlands. She has lived in the United States, in Spain for four years and in the Netherlands for six.

She began her career inside organisations, in wellbeing-focused and environmentally driven companies, working in human resources. After several years in the corporate world she trained as a certified Gestalt Counsellor at the Scuola Gestalt di Torino, also qualifying as a yoga instructor, and is continuing her psychotherapy training.

That sequence is the reason to come to her for anything involving work. Burnout, a career change, the question of whether to leave: she has been on the inside of organisations and made the change herself, rather than reading about it.

She works with anxiety, low mood, relationship and family difficulties, couples, self-doubt, identity, and adaptation difficulties, which for someone who has recently moved country is often the whole picture.

Her approach is Gestalt: holistic and experiential, working with awareness, presence and authentic connection, and with what is happening in the room now rather than only with the past. She works on emotional patterns, relational dynamics and unfinished experiences, at your pace, in a style she describes as compassionate, interactive and non-judgemental.

She has worked with hundreds of international patients, each with a different cultural background. For an expat, this is not a therapist learning about your situation: it is one who has lived four countries herself.

You do not have to pick her yourself. At Therapsy every person is matched by a human being, not by an algorithm: our clinical team reads your request, and if Dr. Iacono is the right fit for what you are bringing, they will introduce you. The first call is free, and it is there to check that the fit is real before anything begins.

Fewer than 1 in 100 therapists joins the Therapsy team. Dr. Iacono was personally vetted by our Clinical Director, Dr. Francesca A. Boccalari, on three non-negotiable criteria: she shares our values, she speaks at least one language beyond Italian, and she has a physical practice in Turin where you can meet in person, not only online.

Cecilia Iacono does not work alone. She takes part in Therapsy’s internal clinical supervision, a standing group where therapists bring their most demanding cases, train together and ask for help when a situation calls for it. Every therapist in the network, Case Managers included, can turn to our Clinical Director for clinical questions and further training, and Therapsy runs regular professional training with senior therapists and external trainers. Scheduling, invoicing, payments and the rest of the paperwork are handled by Therapsy, so that her time with you stays clinical work and nothing else. On your side, the same platform gives you one place to see your sessions, invoices, payments and documents.

At Therapsy you do not have to pick your therapist from a list: you start by speaking with Dr. Francesca Boccalari, our Clinical Director, who listens to what you are going through and matches you with the therapist she believes is right for you: Cecilia Iacono, or one of her colleagues. Then you have a free introductory call with that therapist, and only after that do you decide whether to start.

And if the fit turns out not to be right, you are not back at square one. Dr. Boccalari and her team find you another therapist inside Therapsy, at no cost, without you having to tell your story from the beginning. Choosing a therapist while you are struggling, in a language that is not your own, is a lot to ask of a person. That is the part we take on.

Dr. Iacono is registered with the Italian Order of Psychologists. She receives in Turin and in Alba and works online with patients across Italy and abroad.
